I was waiting in line to pay at Bed Bath & Beyond when the bling on this ID card holder with matching lanyard immediately caught my eye. I just love the way it sparkles when the light hits it! I immediately snatched it up and brought it home with me knowing exactly what I was going to do with it. I’ve been looking for a birthday present for a friend and former co-worker and this was perfect for her work ID badge.
I also knew how I was going to use the window opening on it to add a unique and personal touch. So here is what I did:
I took out the cardboard sign inside the ID card holder and measured the dimensions. As seen in the photo above the length = 3.5 inches and the width=2.25 inches.
I used Microsoft Word to create a text box with the same dimension measurements as the cardboard sign to print out my friend’s name. (You can use any word processing program that is available to you or more familiar with.)
The text box feature in Word makes easy to frame the right size for the font I chose. For reference the name of the font I used is Edwardian Script ITC and the font size = 100.
Using scissors I cut out the text box with my friend’s name. I also saved the the cardboard sign to be used as backing.
Finally, to slip the print out much easier into the ID card holder use the cardboard sign as backing. The stiffness of the cardboard keeps the printout from wrinkling and gives it the just the right support needed to slide in.
You now have a beautiful store bought gift that you’ve personalized for that special someone in your life.
